Started in Summer of 79 cleaning buses of a weekend for Pocket money. After leaving school in 83, joined the YTS scheme as a mechanic with Steve Mayle, Andy Rawlinson. £30 a week.
After passing my car test spent most of the time driving the airport motors. Gave up and left only to return a year later to pass PSV took it in 330, passed in April. Did first tour to Italy with Rawlinson when 20 (Shush Alf said it would be ok). Then started in ernest once 21 for the Ski season, carried on for a while before trying Ace travel for a year. Came back again, and toured everywhere, till started breaking down to much and not being a good boy all the time. Finally moved to Newark to work at Travel Wright, but will never forget how Alf taught us, A proud moment in my life was diving a coach within his Funeral procession. That cheesy smile and clapping of his hands will never be forgotten. Now back at Redferns after 20 years.

Retired, but could he be Brendan in disguise....I began working part-time for Redferns in 1987 & had my 1st holiday to Esterel with the wife ( Margaret ) in 1988. The year after we booked to return to Esterel & I ended up sharing the driving there & back & Margaret doing a bit of hostessing. In 1990 I did most of the South of France Tours doing 5 " back to backs " which took up most of the summer. Other tours I did were Lake Como in Italy, Disneyland Paris ( It had only just opened ) & Skiing trips in the winter to European ski resorts. I left the company in 1993 & went to work for Harry Shaw of Coventry. Here, I got to drive new coaches & they were my pride & joy. Margaret & myself didn't get to see each other very often as she continued to work for Redferns so we were away at the same time at different ends of the continent meeting up on a few occasions on Dover or Calais docks. I got to do many far & varied tours whilst working for Harry Shaw & in 1996 Margaret decided to come & join me & once again we worked as a double act, which went down well with the hundreds of passengers we took on holidays all over Europe. Finally in 2003 there were a few problems at the company which I didn't like & in the August, on a tour to Provence & Italy, I decided it was the right time to " Call it a Day " & retired from coaching. For a few months I did Agency truck driving then took a job with the N.H.S. driving a 7 & 1/2 ton truck. I did this for a few years until I injured my back & was forced to finish. My son offered me a job at his car retail garage, I jumped at the opportunity & there I've remained up to the present day, only now I've reached the grand age of 65 I've took part time retirement & work just 3 days a week.

Hostest with the mostest !!!!
Started hostessing on South of France tours to Esterel in 1989 with hubby VIC HOLLINGSWORTH as driver. After he left I stayed on & did many more tours to Esterel with various drivers, Simon Bunting, Dave Ince, Nigel Hollaway, Andy Moran & Andrew Raffety. It was one of the best times of my life (even when we had breakdowns on route) & I made many friends along the way. I left at the end of season in 1996 & went back to work with my hubby who was working for Harry Shaw. Over the next 7 years I worked on tours all over Europe, travelling as far as Poland but the tours I did the most was to Austria, ( Lakes & Tyrol) Italy & Germany. In 2003 I retired from all the travelling to spend more time at home with the family. In 2004 my eldest son had a near fatal motorbike accident & now is partially paralised. I'm now a part time carer for him. The years are flying by & now I'm a senior citizen with grandchildren & great grandchildren who keep me on my toes.
